After speaking in Maquoketa and Dubuque, former President Donald Trump made a surprise visit at Treehouse Pub and Eatery in Bettendorf. Dozens of people showed up inside and outside of Treehouse to see the former president.
Wednesday, the Linn County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to adopt changes to the ordinance governing utility-scale solar projects. These changes include things like ensuring solar panels are tall enough to let plants grow beneath them, requiring them to be even further from homes, and even restricting how much noise solar farms can make.
The UAW has been negotiating with Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis. The union is making several demands including a 40% pay raise over 4 years. So far, offers from the auto makers have not come close to that mark.
Wednesday was the funeral for Kevin Cram, the Algona police officer killed on duty September 13. Cram was shot and killed while he was arresting a man who’s now in custody and facing a charge of first-degree murder.
Five schools across Iowa are being recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for exemplary academic performance and progress. In an announcement today, the five Iowa schools, with roughly 350 others, were added to the departments’ Blue Ribbon Schools Program.
